President Hired by Greater Cleveland Chamber (Garner, NC, Monday, December 17, 2018) - The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce has chosen M’Lea Peak to become the Chamber’s new leader. Mrs. Peak assumed her duties today, Monday, December 17, 2018. “We are very excited to welcome M’Lea to our team,” said the Chamber’s Board of Directors Chairperson Simeen Rehman. “Given her exceptional background and qualifications, we are confident that she’ll make a very positive contribution to the business community and the Chamber. We look forward to continued expansion, growth and prosperity for our members and the overall Cleveland community.” A native of Henderson, Kentucky, Peak has been a Triangle resident for the past three years, moving to the area to be closer to her daughter’s family, and currently resides in Clayton. Most recently, she was employed by the North Carolina Bar Association as manager of their Lawyer Referral Service. She has twenty plus years experience as a Community Service Professional with leadership roles in multiple non-profit organizations including the Volunteer Information Center, the United Way of Ohio Valley and the United Way of Henderson County. Peak replaces former President Kim Lawter, who resigned this past October after two years as the Chamber’s President. “I’m really excited to work with the Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce on the goals and projects already in place, and in getting acquainted with the Cleveland business community,” said Peak. “I’m also looking forward to continuing the growth in the Chamber’s membership and its impact to the Cleveland community.” The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce serves as the voice of business while enhancing community life and growth in the Cleveland Township and surrounding areas. The community includes the business district that has grown up around the Interstate 40 & Highway 42 Interchange, known as “40-42”. The Chamber organizes several community and business events each year, most notably the annual Strawberry Festival in May. Other Chamber events include ribbon cuttings for local businesses, “Commerce and Cocktails” evening socials for members and guests, an annual Golf Tournament, Casino Night, Christmas in Cleveland Tree Lighting Festival and parade, monthly Member Breakfasts and an Annual Awards Banquet in January.
